Nook Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-07-09

These terms govern your use of the Nook app. By installing or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

This is general information, not legal advice.

1. What Nook is and is not

Nook helps you calm in-the-moment anxiety through short, body-felt actions: breathing, grounding, sound, and slow mini-exercises.

Nook is a wellness app, not a medical device. It is not a medical device, a diagnostic tool, a treatment, or psychotherapy, and it does not replace advice from a doctor or another qualified professional.

In an emergency (a threat to life or health, or thoughts of self-harm), contact emergency services or a qualified professional immediately. Nook is not designed for this.

You use the app at your own discretion and responsibility.

2. Acceptable use

No account is required to use the app. The core calming actions are available without payment and are never blocked by a paywall.

3. Premium subscription (auto-renewing through the App Store)

Some content is available with a Nook Premium subscription. The subscription is auto-renewing, is purchased through the App Store, and is tied to your Apple ID (there is no separate account "with us").

Apple's standard end-user license agreement (Apple Licensed Application EULA) also applies to your use of the app obtained from the App Store: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/.

4. Intellectual property

The app and its content, design, text, sounds, and code belong to the owner of Nook or its licensors and are protected by law. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal purposes. Your journal entries belong to you and are stored only on your device.

5. Privacy

Your use of the app is also governed by the Nook Privacy Policy, which explains that journal contents and free-text notes stay on your device, and that Nook uses pseudonymous analytics and technical crash reporting. See the separate "Privacy Policy" document.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranties — express or implied — including as to fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not guarantee that the app will suit you specifically or produce any particular wellness outcome.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the owner of Nook is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and mandatory consumer rights). You remain responsible for your own decisions about your health and for seeking professional help.

8. Changes

We may update the app and these terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top and, where appropriate, by a notice in the app. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.

9. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may restrict access in the event of a breach of these terms or the law.

10. Governing law

We do not impose a specific choice of law. As an App Store app, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies. The mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence always apply and are not waived by these terms.
